a. Home Directories
CHPC provides several options for home directory file systems on our various systems.
i. General HPC file system
This file system is available to groups free of charge who have not purchased file storage on CHPC file servers. This filesystem has a 50 GB quota enforced per user. CHPC can provide temporary increases to this space. If your group has not purchased storage, then this is the space where your CHPC home directory will be provisioned by default. THIS SPACE IS NOT BACKED UP. It is assumed important data will be copied to a departmental file server.
ii. INSCC file system
This file system is available free of charge to groups residing in the INSCC building. Quotas are set at a group level to allow more fluidity between users.
iii. Owner file systems
CHPC currently allows CHPC PIs to buy-in to the Oquirrh file server at $1,000/Tbyte which we will support for 5 years. Please contact us by sending email to firstname.lastname@example.org and requesting to meet with us to discuss your needs and timing.
b. Scratch File Systems
There are various /scratch file systems which are available on the HPC clusters. THESE FILE SYSTEMS ARE NOT BACKED UP. This space is provided for users to store intermediate files required during the duration of a job on one of the HPC clusters. There is no charge for this service.
c. Group Level Storage
CHPC currently allows CHPC PIs to buy-in to the Oquirrh file server at $1,000/Tbyte which we will support for 5 years. Group level storage is generally not backed up, but the Oquirrh file server does have a snapshotting feature. Please discuss this when you are making your purchase.
